Random Post

I know it have been a long while since I have last blogged. There are lotsa travel photos that I wanna load it here, yet couldn't find the time to do so. Or rather, I'm feeling really exhausted from my weekly work travel - this is my straight 16th week of work travel around USA, and still going intensively. Next on the work travel list would be Colorado, and New Orleans.

I was pondering the other day on my weekly flight back to Houston...I realised times flies real quick, it have been almost 9 months since the hubba & I got relocated to the States. As I think back on all the things we've done/had happened, my decision to support the hubba to accept his international posting to the States is beginning to reap positive results.

The hubba has been doing extremely well in his new role here in Houston, and was given a top-notch rating by his big boss recently during his performance review. This meant higher (substantial) salary increment and bonus payout next month, and potential promotion opportunities in months to come. Most importantly, the hubba loves his work, his colleagues, and everyone including the big boss adores him (I'm glad things turn out really well for him, and he is happy).

As for me, I'm doing great in my work as well. I've done pretty well in my recent performance review, and my bosses are satisfied with my work so far (just waiting for the increment/AIP payout next month). Additionally, my USA bosses/colleagues have been treating me with lotsa respect especially they all know I am here in the US office under the global MDP/GDP program for three years. My colleagues back in Oz office are expecting me to return in 3 years time with a promotion to Sr. Mgr/Dir. Being a Sr Mgr/Dir for a global co in my early 30s seems really "attractive", yet I have second thoughts about it lately.

I guess I need to start thinking about family planning soon before I hit my 30s. The hubba has suggested that I should slow down in my career progression given that I have accelerated so fast over the last 3+ years in Oz, and start to think of starting a family. I guess he know it is almost impossible for us to even think of family planning with my current hectic work schedule. Let's see how things turn out early next year when my work travel slows down. (Since the hubba is sooooooo confident he can support me with his present salary package, and give me a comfortable life w/o me having to work in the USA, maybe I should give it a serious thoughts, hmmmm.....).

Besides work, and our life in the USA, (I know I'm getting a bit side track, who cares?), my brother is heading to Canada for his six-month university exchange program in two weeks time. The hubba and I think it would be a great learning experience for him to go, therefore we decided to sponsor part of his exchange program (the other part would be covered by his scholarship). I am definitely sure that he will cherish this opportunity, and make the best out of it!

My mum went for an eye operation recently (just two days ago), and I'm sooo elated the operation was a success. Thanks to my "Lipek", who recommended her a reputable eye specialist from Gleneagle. Initially my mum didn't want to go for the operation, first she thought that there wasn't going to be any cure for her (this was told by the doctor at SGH when she went for a consultation last year), secondly, the huge operation cost involved given it is an expensive private hospital and a reputable eye specialist. My brother told me about it over msn, and mentioned that my mum did not want to go for it. I felt being the eldest child at home, I have the responsibility to advise mum to go for it, and I don't mind paying the full cost for it as long as her eyes can be cured. I spoke to the hubba and he is fully supportive of my decision to pay for mum's operation! I'm glad my mum heed my advice and went for the eye operation! She is now feeling over the moon that she can see the world clearly with a perfect pair of eye sight without just relying on her left eye! Thanks God everything went well. I can finally breathe a sense of relief.... $$ well-spent! All she need to do now is to recuperate and recover soon, and I am already looking forward to her visit with dad to Houston soon (airtickets been booked and paid)! Planning to bring them to visit bro in Canada, and Las Vegas, SFO, Austin, San Antonio etc when they are here (both the hubba and my leave have been approved).

Enough of my rantings over the past few months! Now, I can't wait for my short hols with the hubba to LA & San Diego in two weeks time!

Time to energise!
